Domaine de La Palissade
Interpretation Centre Environment and naturePresentation
Situated between the sea and the Rhône, the Domaine de la Palissade, a site belonging to the Conservatoire du Littoral, lies outside the dykes, making it of particular ecological interest, with its specific flora and fauna.
This is the last area that bears witness to the natural evolution of the Rhône delta.
The La Palissade estate, located between Salin de Giraud and the coast, extends over 702 hectares on the right bank of the Grand Rhône. It lies entirely outside the dykes that protect the lower Camargue from the invasion of the river or the sea, making it of particular ecological interest, with its specific flora and fauna. This is the last area to bear witness to the natural evolution of the delta. Once used exclusively for livestock breeding, fishing and hunting, it was acquired by the Conservatoire du Littoral in 1976.
