Granet XXe
Museum Fine Arts, Painting SculpturePresentation
The Granet Museum has expanded in the Chapel of the White Penitents, a jewel of 17th century Aix-en-Provence architecture. More than 700 m2 of additional exhibition space is now available to the public.
Until February 2026, the Musée Granet hosted the exceptional modern art collection of the Fondation Jean et Suzanne Planque.
From 11 April to 6 September 2026, the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence presents, in collaboration with the Fondation Jean et Suzanne Planque, at Granet XXe, chapelle des Pénitents blancs, Kosta Alex. Coup de chapeau, an exhibition dedicated to the American artist of Greek origin, Kosta Alexopoulos (1925–2005), known as Kosta Alex.
This retrospective of around sixty works traces fifty years of creation, from the artist's arrival in Paris to his passing in 2005, through sculptures, assemblages, cardboard reliefs, collages, drawings, films and archives.
A prolific, discreet and resolutely free sculptor, admired by Swiss collector Jean Planque, Kosta Alex kept himself apart from all artistic movements, drawing inspiration from the poetry of everyday life.
Using humble materials gathered here and there, he created a singular body of work, marked by wit and ingenuity.
This event brings to a close fifteen years of intense collaboration and dialogue between the Fondation Jean et Suzanne Planque and the Musée Granet — a true "tip of the hat" to this artistic adventure and this exceptional collection!
