Presentation

The fort consists of Fort d'Entrecasteaux above and Fort Ganteaume below. Strategically located at the entrance to the Vieux Port, this fort was built under Louis XIV, who wanted to keep Marseille at bay in case of rebellion
The Fort de Ganteaume served as a bailey overlooking the harbor.

Since 1862, it has been separated from Fort Entrecasteaux (with which it formed Fort Saint-Nicolas) by the construction of Boulevard Charles Livon during the building of the imperial residence, the Palais du Pharo.
Fort Ganteaume belongs to the army and houses the officers’ mess.

No tours, no access.
