What's Pop'Histoire? Historians, films, music, books... and you!
For several days, history takes center stage in the city, exploring several themes: pivotal social moments, political questions, the people, and the Mediterranean.

Various venues: La Cascade Cinema, the Picasso site, L'Alinéa bookstore, the Annonciade Chapel...

2026 Program:

- Tuesday, May 26
• At 6:00 PM at the Ziem Museum: A tour following in the footsteps of Mahmoud Darwish with Elias Sanbar, writer, diplomat, and translator.
• At 7:00 PM at the L'Alinéa bookstore: Book signing with Elias Sanbar, author of "A New Lover's Dictionary of Palestine." Registration required: 04 42 42 19 03.

- Thursday, May 28
• At 6:00 PM at the La Cascade cinema: Opening lecture "From 1830 to 1936, a fragmented and discontinuous history of women, between victims and heroines." With Michèle Riot-Sarcey, historian and professor emerita.
• At 8:00 PM at the La Cascade cinema: Screening and discussion of "The Miracle Worker" (film by Arthur Penn, 1962). Followed by a discussion with Michèle Riot-Sarcey.

- Friday, May 29
• At 5:30 PM at the Annonciade chapel: Lecture "But what on earth is Eve guilty of?" The cultural and social construction of misogyny in the Middle Ages. With Laure Verdon, professor of medieval history at Aix-Marseille University.
• At 8 p.m. at the Pablo Picasso site: Theater performance "Writing or Life." Based on the work of Jorge Semprún, adapted and directed by Jean-Baptiste Sastre and Hiam Abbas. In partnership with the Théâtre des Salins and the musicians of the Picasso site. Followed by a Q&A with the director.

- Saturday, May 30
• At 9:30 a.m. at the Ziem Museum: Guided tour "Ernest Pignon-Ernest, a Committed Artist." Guided tour with Gérard Mordillat, writer and filmmaker, focusing on the text "The Miracle of Drawing According to Ernest Pignon-Ernest." Followed by a book signing at the Alinéa bookstore.
• At 2:30 p.m. at the La Cascade cinema: Film lecture "The Popular Front Through Its Films." With Tangui Perron, historian.
• At 5 p.m. at the La Cascade cinema: Film screening "At the Ladies' Bath." Short film by Margaux Fournier, 2025. César Award for Best Short Film 2026.
• At 6:30 pm at the La Cascade cinema: Aperitif and talk, "A People's History of Bistros." With Laurent Bilh, historian and lecturer at Paris 1.
• At 8:30 pm at the La Cascade cinema: Screening of the film "Atlantic Bar" (documentary film by Fanny Molins, 2022). Followed by a discussion with Laurent Bilh.

- Sunday, May 31
• At 9:30 am, departing from Cours Aristide Briand in front of the statues of "La Cuisine au Beurre" (Butter Cuisine): "Bridges Trail" tour. Registration at 04 42 49 03 30.
• At 11:15 am at the Annonciade Chapel: Guided tour, registration at 04 42 49 03 30.
• At 3:00 pm at the La Cascade cinema: Conference and discussion, "The Popular Front in Marseille and Provence." With Gérard Leidet, primary school teacher and educational advisor, president of PROMEMO, and Jean-Louis Lombardi.
• At 3:45 p.m.: Conference "The Popular Front: History for Today." With Ludivine Bantigny, historian and lecturer at the University of Rouen Normandy.
• At 5:00 p.m.: Conference "The Popular Front: Anti-Fascist Response and Democratic Impetus?" With Jean Vigreux, professor of contemporary history at the University of Burgundy-Europe.
• At 6:30 p.m. at the La Cascade cinema: Book signing with several authors of "Forever Comrades." This collection of short stories pays tribute to the activists of the Popular Front, evokes the Spanish Civil War, and features prominent figures such as Louise Weiss, Léon Blum, and Louis Aragon.
