Presentation

The mineral and chaotic world of Baux-de-Provence has inspired many writers. Its tormented landscape with cliffs pierced with caves has given birth to many legends.
In the Val d'Enfer, guarded by stone monsters, legends and poets have given shelter to witches and fairies. Dante was inspired by this valley nestling at the foot of the village to write his Inferno and Mistral, in Mirèio, set the lair of the witch Taven there. A golden cabro guards the treasure of a Saracen prince buried for centuries!

In this valley, certain rock formations, here a few steps from the Carrières de Lumière in Les Baux de Provence, have the appearance of skeletal skulls. An unusual curiosity in the heart of the Massif des Alpilles.

To get there, take the departmental road 27, which weaves its way between the rocks. A winding road but with beautiful views.
