The Arles Vincent van Gogh Foundation
Museum Fine Arts, Painting SculpturePresentation
The V. van Gogh Foundation is dedicated to promoting his artistic legacy by questioning the resonance of his work in art. Placing his paintings in perspective with the work of contemporary artists will reveal a fertile dialogue.
Vincent van Gogh is a key figure in 20th-century art. To this day, his influence endures among artists, and his work exerts an unprecedented magnetism on the public. It was in Arles that he produced his finest masterpieces in just fifteen months.
The Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles offers a unique approach to Van Gogh, exploring the resonance of his work with current artistic creation. Thanks to partnerships with public and private collections, the Foundation presents one or more paintings by Van Gogh alongside works by modern and contemporary artists in temporary exhibitions throughout the year - such as Laura Owens, Roni Horn, David Hockney, Urs Fischer, Alice Neel, and Nicole Eisenman in 2022.
Two original paintings by Van Gogh, Peasant and Peasant Woman Planting Potatoes and Potato Basket (Nuenen 1885), open the exhibition.
