Breathe in nature at the Grand Parc de Figuerolles
Start your day at the Grand Parc de Figuerolles. Gentle paths meander beneath your feet, winding between golden meadows and fragrant pine forests. The resinous scent of the pines mingles with the morning freshness. The walk is gentle. No pressure. No performance. Just the pleasure of walking side by side. The paths naturally guide you towards the shores of the Étang de Berre. The water shimmers. The sky is reflected in it like a living painting. The silence is punctuated by the rustling of the wind and the quiet call of a bird. You breathe more deeply. Your body relaxes. Your mind too.
Make the most of the park: There are 6 trails within the park, ranging from 3 to 7 km. In the heart of the Mediterranean gardens or along the shores of the Étang de Berre, you will enjoy diverse and varied landscapes. The more adventurous can explore the Figuerolles loop (6 km) to circumnavigate the park.
"The walking trails offer lovely views of the Étang de Berre. The 6.5 km loop is easy and can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace."

A gourmet country break showcasing local produce
At lunchtime, indulge in delicious food to prolong this feeling of harmony. A picnic featuring fresh market produce – creamy tapenade, juicy seasonal fruit, crusty bread – can be savored in the shade of the trees. The song of the cicadas accompanies the meal. If you prefer the charm of a formal dining experience, La Cantine du Mas, located in the heart of the park, offers authentic local cuisine in a rustic setting. Light wood, natural light, and generous portions: everything invites you to savor the moment in all its simplicity.
Good to know: Every Thursday and Sunday morning, browse the colorful stalls of the Jonquières market in downtown Martigues. Depending on the season, you'll find fruits and vegetables, olives and tapenades, specialty breads, hot dishes, Provençal specialties, chicken, cheeses, fish and shellfish, and much more—a selection of products from our beloved Provence to create a delicious picnic basket.
A relaxing break overlooking the Étang de Berre
The afternoon gently leads you back to downtown Martigues, nicknamed the Venice of Provence. At La Rode Park, facing the lagoon, settle down on a bench or directly on the warm grass. Close your eyes for a few seconds. Listen to the lapping of the water. Feel the caress of the sun on your skin. Before you, windsurfers glide gracefully, tracing ephemeral lines on the shimmering surface. Extend your relaxing day in Martigues with a sweet treat at the beach bars on Ferrières Beach. Enjoy a fresh juice, a sweet treat to share, with your toes in the sand.
Good to know: The beach bars on Ferrières Beach are open from May to September.
Our tip: Extend the pleasure into the evening and enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the Étang de Berre. On hot days, cool off with a swim in the lagoon. Ferrières Beach is supervised from June onwards. The water quality is regularly tested and is excellent. Enjoy!
"Sipping a cocktail while comfortably seated overlooking the Étang de Berre truly feels like a holiday. What a joy to have a beach right in the city center; you can practically live with your feet in the sand."
