Frog trail at La Capelière
Pedestrian sports, Course Interdepartmental Interdepartmental Interdepartmental Tourist itineraryPresentation
An ideal path to discover on foot a site combining both freshwater and saltwater environments, between reedbed marshes, riparian vegetation, lawns and sansouïre.
In autumn, at the bend of a white poplar tree, you may come across a European cistude, taking a last sunbath before hibernation, comfortably installed on a piece of wood emerging from the fresh water!
In August, the saladella will captivate you with its intense purple color contrasting with the white of the salt crystallizing on the surface of the ground. And in winter, you will discover the gatherings of water birds spending the day in the shelter before reaching the feeding sites for the night. In the spring, it is the concert of the birds between forest and marsh which animates the path between melody of the nightingale and that of the hypolaïs, between "count-sous" and the charbonnière nicknamed "the locksmith".
The trail of the tree frogs, located at the Capelière, is 1,5 km long. It is discovered in soft mode, only on foot.
Four observatories will allow you to observe the wild fauna of the marshes in all discretion.
Allow 1 hour to walk around the trail and stop at the different observatories.
Before or after the trail, discover the permanent exhibition of the Capelière, on the fauna, the flora, the geography of the Camargue and the animated films on the national reserve of Camargue.
