The Marseille soap museum offers a unique tour inside the Savonnerie du midi factory

This walk has been created by one of the oldest soap factory of the region. You can discover how the Marseille soap was created, its traditional manufacturing process. its former uses, its regional rootedness, its industrial background. One of the most beautiful collection of Marseille soap is displayed.
This collection belongs to Josette and Vittorio Quittard, two people from Marseille who have been passionate about Marseille soap for years. Indeed, they made two movies, wrote a book and created 93 exhibitions.
Photographies, tanks, former soaps, advertisments, boxwood stamps, washing boards bearters...Total of nearly objects of all kinds are on display in three areas.
Built in the cauldrons area,, this is the very heart of the factory, the museum gives also the opportunity to discover the saponification process and a complete tour of the visit in order to better understand the different stages of the famous "made in Marseille".
Mandatory reservations
For individuals on wednesdays and saturdays at 10.30 am
and during holidays: tuesdays, wednesdays and thursdays at 10.30 am
For groups ( more than 10 people) from monday to thursday from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm and friday from 10.30 to 4.30.
