In the footsteps of the painters
Presentation
10 a.m.: Guided tour “On the painters’ route”.

Your visit continues to Quai Brescon, in the heart of the Ile district and where the famous "Bird Mirror" is located for which Martigues is famous. This pretty body of water, a classified site since 1942, is lined with houses with colorful facades. He inspired many painters. Even today, you will see amateur or experienced painters trying their hand at it. A few meters away, the majestic Sainte-Marie Madeleine church will charm you with its baroque style. Built between 1670 and 1680, this monument, classified since 1947, is often represented on the paintings of the masters.

2 p.m.: Visit to the Ziem Museum.
Upon entering, visitors are transported into the poetic and colorful world of Félix Ziem. The painter's works, famous for their Mediterranean landscapes imbued with light and softness, are highlighted in a setting that is both sober and elegant. The paintings, in shimmering colors, reveal the artist's sensitivity for the landscapes of the South of France, but also for the distant horizons that he discovered during his travels. Throughout the rooms, visitors can admire a rich and varied collection, made up of paintings, drawings and prints, testifying to the talent and artistic diversity of Félix Ziem. Temporary exhibitions regularly enrich this permanent collection, offering visitors the opportunity to discover other facets of the artist's work, but also to meet other contemporary artists.
