Fireworks from a boat in Martigues

  • Fireworks burst into the dark sky, reflected in the water. The city center is visible in the background. A pinkish tint dominates the image.
  • The red fireworks burst into the dark night sky. The Martigues church steeple is recognizable in the background. The water is calm, with reflections in it.
  • The fireworks display is multi-colored: pink, red, green, and yellow. This gives a joyful feel to the celebration, the Venetian Evening in Martigues.
  • The illuminated floats parade along the Martigues Canal, passing alongside the buildings lit by their passage. The float in the foreground represents a gondola, like Venice.
  • The surroundings are dark, and a luminous float occupies the entire space. It represents a monster from the Étang de Berre, like a dragon. It parades on the water of the Martigues

Why is this activity not accessible to everyone?

Boarding and movement at night: Access to the boat is at nightfall from the dock via a narrow gangway, which can sway with the water's movement. Movement on board is confined to a limited space.

Anxiety-inducing environment (Sensory overload): The show combines total darkness at sea with extremely loud and sudden pyrotechnic explosions. For hypersensitive individuals or those with cognitive disabilities, the inability to leave the ship before the end of the performance can trigger a panic attack.

Safety and evacuation at sea: In the event of a nighttime emergency, evacuation procedures on board a passenger ship require good mobility and the ability to immediately understand and follow the crew's orders.

Potential standing area: Depending on the boat's configuration and the number of passengers, seating on the outside deck may be limited at the time of the fireworks display, forcing passengers to stand along the railing.
