The Fête de la mer et de la Saint-Pierre is a not-to-be-missed event in the fishing town of Martigues. Traditional rowing challenge, old-fashioned games, fishermen's mass and procession.
An annual event not to be missed, paying tribute to the sailors and fishermen who have brought Martigues to life for so many years!

4pm: Traditional rowing challenge in front of the Town Hall.
The Venetian oarsmen have forged their reputation in Martigues as much as that of the Martigues jousters. For the Fête de la Mer and the Fête de la Saint-Pierre, the rowers will be putting on a show to delight your eyes during this maritime challenge.

From 5pm to 7pm: Jeux d'Antan on the Place de la Libération (L'île).
Young and old alike can try their hand at wooden games and other activities initiated by Martigues' old-timers. There's nothing better than enjoying a friendly family moment.

6pm: Fishermen's mass at the church of Sainte-Marie Madeleine, in the Ile district.

7pm: Saint Peter's Day procession.
This is followed by a procession through the streets of Martigues to pay homage to the patron saint, starting from the Madeleine church. A blessing between the two blue bridges, facing the setting sun, will make the spectacle even more magical. Saint-Pierre is a key figure in Provence and Martigues, and the ancestral symbol of a festival of the sea.

There will be no boat parade this year, 2024.
Opening period (s)Saturday 29 June 2024 at 4 pm.
