Presentation
Martigues Fishing Week takes place in mid-August. A national deep-sea fishing championship is held, followed by a fish weigh-in on the forecourt of the Town Hall. Dance evenings include tuna fishing on Thursday and Saturday, and giant aioli on Friday.
One of the unmissable summer events in Martigues.
Each day, the fishermen return to the port and weigh their fish. The fisherman with the biggest fish at the end of the championship is the winner.
End the evening at the port with a convivial meal and music.
- On Wednesday, August 6th, Thursday, August 7th, and Friday, August 8th, the public can meet at 5:30 p.m. on the Town Hall square for the arrival of the boats and the weighing of the fish.
- Saturday, August 9th: Half-day catch-up in case of bad weather.
Crew parade, closing ceremony, and awards ceremony.
Dance evenings with meals are offered over three days, from 8 p.m. to midnight, on the square in front of Martigues Town Hall. Tickets are available at the Martigues Tourist and Leisure Office in early August (Quai des Anglais in the Île district).
- Thursday, August 7: Giant Tuna Fish with the pop-rock band "Full Moon." €19.
- Friday, August 8: Giant Aioli with "Les Canilles." €19.
- Saturday, August 9: Giant Tuna Fish with the LSP Orchestra (80s pop music). €19.
Meal rate for children under 12: €9.
The reputation of these evenings is well-established, and the enthusiasm of Martigues residents and tourists during this period makes them eagerly awaited.
