La Bastide des Joncas in Martigues invites you to a public conference with Jean Thoby and the Symphonie Végétale.
Jean Thoby and the Plant Symphony: When Art Meets Plant Science
In the fascinating world where science and art collide, Jean Thoby stands out as an emblematic figure. This scientist, artist, and true "plant whisperer" has given a melodious voice to an often overlooked field of research: plant electrophysiology. His innovative work, particularly through the concept of "Plant Music," invites us to a unique sensory and intellectual experience, revealing the profound connection between the plant world and our own existence.
"Plant Music" is much more than a simple artistic curiosity; it is a true bridge between art and science, offering a unique perspective on plant electrophysiology. This field, although studied since the late 18th century with pioneers such as Bertholon (1783) and his concept of "electroculture," has long remained in the shadows. Thanks to Jean Thoby's approach, it is now taking on a new face.
The conference will be followed by a professional training session that will focus on three areas:
- Care for professional crops through botanical biodynamization.
- The music of plants, the artistic and performing aspects.
- Botanical music therapy, well-being through musical interactions with plants.
