Martigues celebrates the day of his liberation. Friday August 23 on the market square in La Couronne and Saturday August 24 in downtown Martigues.
Friday's programme in La Couronne and Carro:
- 5.30pm: wreath-laying ceremony in Carro, at the Monument to the Missing at Sea.
- 6.30pm: La Couronne ceremony at the Monument aux Morts, preceded by a parade of military vehicles.
- La Couronne market square:
* 7.30pm: food, refreshments, free games for children
and night market.
* 9pm, concert by the group IDEM.
Saturday's programme in Martigues town centre:
- 6.15pm: parade with military vehicles. Departure from Cours du 4 Septembre (Jonquières).
- 6.30pm: Ceremony at the Monument aux Morts 39/45 in Jonquières.
- 7pm: Aperitif offered to the public. Cours du 4 Septembre.
- 7.30pm: Liberation swing ball with the group "Suzy swing sisters". Place de la Libération (L'Île).
9.45pm: Mapping in the L'Ile district, on the façade of the Sainte-Marie Madeleine church.
