Presentation
Jazz concert at the "Rallumeur d'Étoiles" community café
Duet Stories is the story of an encounter.
In March 2024, following a chance conversation outside a jazz club near Montpellier, Isa and Fred decided to bring their musical worlds together. They revisit works by the great jazz composers, songwriters, and performers—from Cole Porter to Carla Bley, from Horace Silver to Johnny Mercer—with every piece in their repertoire serving as a beloved gem drawn from the *Real Book* or the *Great American Songbooks*.
For Duet Stories, it is essential that jazz remains a human, living form of music. While the compositions are partially structured—consisting of a chord progression and a melody—they leave ample room for diverse interpretations and improvisation. Jazz is a culture rooted in human diversity and richness; stripped of artifice or auto-tune, it reinvents itself in the moment, through an intimate, organic exchange with the audience.
Duet Stories brings these jazz gems into settings where they can truly connect, resonate, and bring people together—in warm, vibrant, shared spaces such as a living room, a café, a community hub, a barn, a yoga studio, a library, a courtyard, a farm, an intimate theater, or a jazz club.
No reservation is required, but a membership to the association—with a "pay-what-you-wish" contribution—is mandatory (memberships can be purchased on-site that same evening).
