Presentation

Set within the exquisite Chapel of the Annonciade, this concert echoes the ZIEM Museum’s exhibition dedicated to Ernest Pignon-Ernest—an artist whose work, deeply imbued with poetry, has notably engaged in a dialogue with the words of Mahmoud Darwish.
With *Here and Now*, Walid Ben Selim brings to life great works of contemporary and Sufi Arabic poetry. His rich, vibrant voice conveys a message of love, exile, and presence in the world—an address that is at once intimate and universal. Alongside him, harpist Marie-Marguerite Cano unfolds a soundscape of exquisite delicacy. The harp strings—by turns crystalline and deep—open up a resonant space where language transforms into music, and where every vibration extends the poem’s breath. From this encounter emerges a suspended moment, poised between East and West, between memory and creation. It is a deeply moving experience, to be heard as an inner journey... here and now.
"Here and now, amidst the debris of the 'something' and the 'nothing,' we live in the outskirts of Eternity." — Mahmoud Darwish
