Presentation

The Tuesday meetings, through the richness of the subjects developed, are a precious mine of cultural and historical information. Cultural and human adventure, they restore to the inhabitants their territory, their history. This is the 2025 programme.
- Tuesday 28 January from 6pm to 7pm, at the Musée Ziem: a two-voice tour of ‘Martigues, points de vue’.
Works from the museum, old postcards and photographs will be combined to help you discover Martigues through the eyes of the Musée Ziem and the municipal archives.

- Tuesday 4 February at 5.30pm, at the Office de Tourisme et des loisirs: lecture ‘A la table d'Esprit Turc’.
The discovery of a well in the Colla de Pradines mansion brought to light a large concentration of varied archaeological finds.
The finds provide an unprecedented insight into the daily life of a family of Martégale's lower nobility, and complement the rare archival material from the period that has come down to us.
By Hélène Marino, archaeologist, heritage curator, AHAA department.

- Tuesday 11 March at 5.30pm, at the Office de Tourisme et des loisirs: ‘Rendez-vous à l'Hôtel’ event.
What if the walls of the Hôtel de Colla de Pradines could talk? Everyone in Martégaux has a story, a memory, an anecdote to share about this building that has marked the history of the town and their lives.
We invite you to join us for a convivial evening to preserve the living memory of this place, where everyone (professionals and non-professionals alike) can talk about past uses and the links they have forged with these walls.
With Sandrine Lemire, the town's architect who oversaw the renovation of the building.

- Tuesday 22 April at 6pm, Town Hall conference room: ‘The contribution of the Carro 3 wreck to our knowledge of glass trade routes from Provence’.
Recent excavations of wrecks and port dumps in Provence and Languedoc, as well as in the West Indies, have unearthed a considerable quantity of glass containers dating from
dated between 1680 and 1900, which circulated either as merchandise vases, sold for their own sake, or as containers for the food industry. Numerous inventories of this type of furniture have made it possible to define trade flows that, until now, have received little attention.
The discovery of the Carro 3 wreck, in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, suggests the existence of two glass journeys...
By Laurence Serra PhD, Maritime Archaeologist AMU (Aix-Marseille University), CNRS, LA3M (UMR 7298).

- Tuesday 6 May at 6pm, Town Hall conference room: ‘Passive defence in Martigues’.
The discovery of a Second World War air-raid shelter in the garden of the former Jourde asylum provided the opportunity for an archaeological dig and archival research to look into the history of passive defence in Martigues.
archaeological excavation and archival research into a lesser-studied aspect of Martigues' history: passive defence, in other words the measures taken to protect the population in the event of war.
By Hélène Marino, archaeologist, heritage curator, AHAA department.
