Ariane Ascaride is much more than a major film and theatre actress: she is a voice, a face. Deeply connected to the world of Robert Guédiguian, she has pursued a rich and demanding theatrical career, faithful to the contemporary repertoire.
Directed by Thierry Thieû Niang, with words by Marie Desplechin, this performance delivers an intimate and deeply embodied narrative.
In Touched by the Fairies (Fada in the southern dialect), she embodies a woman marked by struggles, passions, and wounds, who has tirelessly defended a certain ideal of freedom and emancipation, following in the footsteps of figures like Gisèle Halimi. Alone on stage, she conjures up a gallery of characters, silhouettes of ancestors and loved ones, "everyday heroes" from a world both humble and wondrous. Between memories and fable, Ariane Ascaride summons these invisible presences that have shaped her journey as a woman and an artist, recounting her story with sincerity, humanity, courage, and modesty, sweeping away the most difficult moments of her life with bursts of laughter.
