Presentation
Emmanuelle Laborit and Jennifer Lesage-David, co-directors of IVT – International Visual Theatre, combine their artistic and linguistic experiences to reveal the full richness of sign language and Deaf culture.
For over twenty years, they have been developing creations where theater, body, and image intertwine to raise awareness and stimulate reflection.
With Tellement Sympa (So Nice), they break the persistent code of silence surrounding violence against women within the Deaf community, while also addressing the broader issue of domestic violence. Two friends talk: what initially seems innocuous gradually reveals the control, violence, and silence that surround them. The play explores defense mechanisms, the weight of the gaze, and survival strategies through sign language. Both intimate and universal, this creation, conceived for both Deaf and hearing audiences, is part of an awareness and prevention initiative, directly relevant to our society.
This performance is part of the "En signe" festival, celebrating Deaf culture. Festival in collaboration with the MJC of Martigues, the Pablo Picasso site, the Ziem Museum, the C.I.A.S Pays de Martigues, the Cultural Department of the city of Martigues and the Fernand Léger Art Center, Port de Bouc.
