Presentation

In this two-voice guided tour, the Musée Ziem pays tribute to an exceptional woman who was a painter, sculptor, draughtswoman, writer and feminist. In the Ferrières district of Martigues town centre. Free admission.
Come and enjoy a two-voice guided tour organised in partnership with the Louis Aragon multimedia library.
Through extracts from the diary written by Marie Bashkirtseff, you will discover the works of this artist as well as those of Louise Breslau and Jules Bastien-Lepage.

Born into a family of wealthy Russian aristocrats, Marie Bashkirtseff (1858-1884) fought for equal rights for women
by contributing to La Citoyenne, and maintained an important correspondence with Dumas fils, Maupassant and Zola.
In partnership with the Musée des Beaux-Arts Jules Chéret in Nice.
