Presentation
Having received a standing ovation at the 2025 Avignon IN festival, the young Greek director Mario Banushi offers a work of rare power, both intimate and universal.
The rising star of European theater celebrates the maternal figures who have guided him through love, longing, and memory.
On stage, bodies move within a haunting landscape, on the border between dream and memory. Driven by highly precise, visual writing, the performers conjure images of striking intensity. The stage becomes a sensory space where smells, sounds, and textures evoke buried memories and awaken profound emotions. Born in Greece and having spent his childhood in Albania, Mario Banushi draws on his personal history to weave a unique mythology: that of a child raised by several mothers, caught between separation and legacy. A moving tribute to those who shaped us and to what, within us, continues to resonate with them.
"A memorable moment of theater that borders on the sublime." Télérama
This performance is part of the festival's focus on contemporary Greek theater and is supported by the Onassis Stegi Touring Program.
