David Bobée, director of the Théâtre du Nord in Lille, is now a regular in Martigues. He returns with a foundational text of romantic theatre: Lorenzaccio by Alfred de Musset.
Here, he chooses to juxtapose it with the writings of George Sand, an essential yet often overlooked contributor to the work.
Lorenzaccio is a powerful political reflection on the duty of resistance. David Bobée offers a spectacular version, enhanced by monumental sets that serve this universal historical fable. In 16th-century Florence, the despot Alessandro de' Medici imposes his rule. Faced with the inaction of the democrats, the young Lorenzo decides to act alone to liberate his city, raising burning questions about individual responsibility and political commitment. Surrounded by his trusted actors and young talents from the École du Nord, the director confronts this text with our present day. A committed, accessible, and profoundly human performance.
