Puppeteer Élise Vigneron chooses the eponymous work by Virginia Woolf to give life to striking human-sized ice puppets, which time transforms imperceptibly until they blend into the flow of the wave.

From childhood to old age, we follow five friends in search of themselves, who evolve throughout their lives according to the variations of a seascape, taken from dawn to dusk. Manipulated by very long wires, the puppets allow the actors to replay the past and future existence of their character.

The metamorphosis of this ephemeral material is at the heart of the work of Élise Vigneron, who pays a vibrant tribute to it in this piece of rare beauty where dance, text, light and music combine. The soundscapes unfold, nourished by the sounds captured by the artist on the Norwegian coasts, to immerse us in the roar of the marine world. An impressive technical and artistic challenge!
