Caroline Malatrait's photographic exhibition explores the agricultural history of Martigues through the eyes of the Zavattoni family, descendants of Italian immigrants, and the evolution of their status from peasant to farmer.

The photographic documentary exhibition will be accompanied by reports by Nicolas Balique.
It offers a unique insight into the agricultural history of Martigues. Through the prism of the Zavattoni family, descendants of Italian immigrants, photographer Caroline Malatrait reflects on the evolution from peasant to farmer, highlighting the integration of immigrant communities and their essential contribution to society.
The exhibition aims to capture the essence of rural life at the time, revealing the challenges and transformations faced by the farmers of Martigues, embodied by the Zavattoni family.
The photographs, accompanied by previously unpublished reports by Nicolas Balique, are drawn from meticulously researched family and municipal archives, as well as current shots, weaving a visual dialogue between past and present.
This project highlights the importance of preserving collective memory, while celebrating the region's agricultural and cultural heritage.
