Presentation

The Miser is a ferocious farce that Jérôme Deschamps dreamed of staging. Like Molière in his time, he chooses to depict, with jubilation, an old Harpagon fiercely clinging to his cassette.
With the irresistible Lorella Cravotta as an intriguing matchmaker, he puts together a tailor-made troupe to serve this timeless work.

Jérôme Deschamps chooses the nudity of the set, with no other artifice than the superb costumes of Macha Makaïeff and the lighting of the master of the art Bertrand Couderc, to make Molière's text triumph. The stage then becomes a space of freedom given to this troupe, worthy of the Illustre Théâtre, to run, do somersaults, grimace and contort themselves, beat themselves and dance. The director and actor does not censor anything in this grating play, to be seen or rewatched, because it is terribly current on individualism, patriarchal tyranny and pettiness.
