Presentation

Full Moon is the latest creation by Josef Nadj. Presented at the Montpellier Danse Festival in June 2024, it continues the artistic exploration of the African continent carried out in Omma, in 2021.
For this piece, the Franco-Hungarian choreographer chose to join 7 of the 8 dancers from Omma on stage. Full Moon summons new territories and here he is free to forge a new world. From the cycles and phases of the moon, he draws the rhythmic structure to cross it with black American jazz, from its blues and spiritual origins to its contemporary developments.

Josef Nadj transmits to his dancers the richness of this music rooted in the African continent and pays tribute to notable figures such as Charles Mingus, Cecil Taylor and Anthony Braxton. Finally, the puppet, which runs through Nadj’s work, brings a telluric form to the whole. Full Moon then becomes a mixed dance, deeply contemporary, acrobatic and dynamic having no other country than freedom.
