Emanuel Gat is welcomed for the first time to Les Salins with Cinq jours au Soleil, his new creation presented as a world premiere at the Montpellier Danse Festival 2026.
Inspired by Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, the piece unfolds in five tableaux, like a journey through the states of the soul, from shadow to light.
Twelve dancers traverse a space in perpetual metamorphosis, structured by a choreography where light, conceived by the choreographer himself, engages in a dialogue with music and movement. The emotional power of Mahler’s work, composed at a pivotal moment in his life between a near-death experience and the surge of love, resonates with the choreographic score, where tension and release, introspection and collective energy intertwine. From piece to piece, Emmanuel Gat affirms a singular artistic language, both rigorous and organic. With Five Days in the Sun, he creates a sweeping and immersive work, where dance becomes the site of a profoundly human experience encompassing love, loss, and metamorphosis.
