The Théâtre des Salins is partnering with the inaugural edition of the En Signe festival and showcasing Deaf artists in Martigues.
On the agenda:
- Saturday, November 7 at 3:00 PM
Tour of the "Venise Provençale" (Provençal Venice) district in French Sign Language (LSF) with Grégory Pagès.
Organized by the City of Martigues' Art, History, Archaeology, and Archives Department. Meeting point: Miroir aux Oiseaux, in front of the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church. Registration required.
- Saturday, November 7 at 6:00 PM at the MJC.
Performance: "Une Vraie Femme ?!" (A Real Woman?!) by the company Osez ! Vous.
Loss of identity, rebuilding oneself, refusing to be confined to a definition... The company is dedicated to questioning gender representations, challenging perspectives, and showcasing the beauty of unique life paths. Post-residency showcase: a theatrical and choreographic performance featuring both sign language and spoken voice (duration: 1 hour).
Directed by Florence Houmad; featuring Dolorès Vantorre (Deaf actress and dancer) and Stéphanie Fontez (hearing actress and voice artist).
Followed by a meeting with the artists at 7:15 PM – Meal and social gathering.
Retrospective exhibition: It has already been 10 years since the MJCsigne collective began creating activities to foster connections between Deaf and hearing people, as well as events that showcase sign language and Deaf culture.
- Friday, November 20 at 6:00 PM at the Fernand Léger Art Center in Port-de-Bouc
Opening of the exhibition by Marine Comte, a Deaf artist whose work explores the concept of perception.
Exhibition runs until December 4.
- Monday, November 23 at 6:00 PM at the Fernand Léger Art Center in Port-de-Bouc
Lecture in LSF (French Sign Language) by Olivier Schetrit: "Language, Body, and Deaf Art: From the Invisibility of Deaf Artists to the Affirmation of Contemporary Visual Creation."
- Friday, November 27 at 6:30 PM at the Picasso site.

The Airelle Besson Trio (trumpet)—featuring Sebastian Sternal (piano) and Jonas Burgwinkel (drums)—invites Deaf sign-language performer Clémence Colin, who "narrates" the concert in sign language. For beyond the sound itself, music evokes images and feelings to be experienced.
Followed by a meeting with the artists.
