Presentation
Anna Lemonaki is a Greek author, director and performer, based between Switzerland and Athens.
With Bleu, a hybrid work somewhere between cabaret and autofiction, she makes anxiety a public issue in order to defuse it and combat its stigmatization.
Once linked to ignorance of the world, anxiety is now fueled by an excess of knowledge and self-awareness. In a countdown that wages war on silence, a performer and a musician, holding their breath, attempt to grasp this contemporary affliction: its origins, its forms, and its consequences. Through constant listening, they seek the perfect harmony between sound, space, movement, and words, as close as possible to an intimate and shared experience of fear. Created in 2016 and performed in more than five countries (in French, Greek, and English) but rarely seen in France, Bleu stands out as a sensitive manifesto, where the author explores, not without humor, the contemporary vulnerabilities of intimacy and the psyche, in a space where documentary and fiction intersect.
“Anna Lemonaki’s greatest quality is her disarming frankness, a simplicity that seems to draw her closer to the viewer instead of placing her on a pedestal. Very rarely have I felt such a strong desire in a performer to blend in rather than stand out. This tenderness makes her unique.” Georgios Voudiklaris, Elculture.gr
