The Comédie-Française troupe takes to the stage at Les Salins in a moving tragedy. Guy Cassiers, a major figure in Flemish theatre, offers a production of Berenice that combines the classicism of Alexandrines with aesthetic modernity.

Having become Emperor of Rome upon the death of his father, Titus must renounce his promise of marriage to Berenice, Queen of Palestine, because the Senate rejects any union with a foreign queen. Suliane Brahim intensely embodies Berenice caught in a tumult of emotions in the face of the cowardice of Titus and his friend Antiochus, who secretly loves her. These two characters, played by Jérémy Lopez, mirror each other, thus bringing into play the contradictions of their feelings. The audience enters the shadow of their thoughts and the entire stage plunges into phantasmagoria, Berenice's losing all grip on reality. The beauty of Racine's language is sublimated by the performances of the actors and actresses of the Français, the oldest continuously active troupe in the world. A rare moment of theater.
