Corn Exchange
Historic site and monumentPresentation
Taxes on wheat were one of the main revenues of the city. In 1759, from a pre-existing building, the grain market was built by the architect Georges Vallon.
He chose the site where the market was regularly held. The pediment was created by the sculptor Jean-Pancrace Chastel. It represents an allegory of the Rhone, the Durance and the fertility of the region.
Currently, the grain market houses the post office, the town hall and an annex of the Méjanes library.
