Presentation

At the foot of the Alpilles, next to the Roman ruins of GLANUM, there has been, since about the year 1000, a monastery containing a beautiful Romanesque cloister where monks of different congregations have followed one another.
Its name comes from the Mausoleum of Les Antiques. This former monastery near Les Antiques, which has been transformed into a health spa, still has its church and a Romanesque cloister which opens onto four barrel vaulted galleries. A large alley leads to this peaceful site, which is famous for having housed Van Gogh (1889-1890). The monastery also welcomed another famous guest, Doctor Schweitzer (1914 to 1918).
It was just a priory in 1605, when it housed Observantine monks who cared for mentally ill patients there. After the Revolution, Doctor Mercurin founded a health spa there, which is still in operation.
