Presentation

On the completely refurbished Esquiros Square, we can see the beautiful stone facade of the Chapel, with its characteristic front wall in the architecture of the Counter-Reformation.
The Chapel was set up from 1630 for the brotherhood of Black Penitents. But, this Chapel was too big for the small community and the Black Penitents had to get into debt to continue the building which was, finally, finished in 1656.
Seized as a National asset under the French Revolution, it was sold in September, 1791.
It was converted in prison during the federalist period, then passed by diverse hands before being acquired by Brunet Priest who installed Sainte-Anne's brotherhood.
