The Côte Bleue like you’ve never seen it before! This train trip is a special treat reserved for passengers of the TER Marseille-Miramas railway line. It’s the best way to see all the wild beauty of the coastline.

Take one last look at the amazing view of the port of Marseille before heading off on a 60 km journey through an enchanting landscape between crystal clear blue water and green pine forests.
This unique railway on the flank of the Massif de la Nerthe has an exclusive view over the Mediterranean coastline.
The construction of the Côte Bleue railway, between 1907 and 1915 required 18 viaducts, 2 bridges and 23 tunnels.
The railway offers a stunning journey through rich landscape where several works are listed as 20th-century or historical monuments.

Get your fill of sun and fresh air The Train de la Côte Bleue offers endless activities!
Stop along the way to discover walking trails: Chemin des Peintres de l'Estaque and Sentier des Douaniers (GR51) in Ensuès-la-Redonne, beaches in La Couronne and Sausset-les-Pins, and festive summer events in Martigues. Or have lunch in one of the ports in Niolon or Carry-le-Rouet before taking a boat trip to visit the rocky coves or the Parc Marin de la Côte Bleue.

    Timetable

    The train operates 14 return journeys between Marseille and Miramas daily, stopping at 15 stations and other stops. Detailed timetable on the TER PACA site.

    Tariffs, bookings and ticket sales

    Online store on the TER PACA site, SNCF application and SNCF regional ticket distributors.
    A counter is available at Miramas - Place Pierre Beley station. Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sundays and public holidays from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    A counter is also available at Marseille Saint-Charles station from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    Leisurely discovery overlooking the sea

    The Côte Bleue lies to the west of Marseille, stretching as far as the of Étang de Berre. The 22 km of coastline, studded with beaches, coves and harbours, are home to an exceptional heritage of preserved wildlife and flora. A wide range of activities are offered all year round.

    Walking and hiking

    The Côte Bleue offers a wide choice of walking trails, whether you are a serious hiker or prefer a short walk and a picnic with your family or friends.
    From Ensuès-la-Redonne to Niolon, discover the Côte Bleue on the Sentier des Douaniers - a trail overlooking the sea.
    And if you need a rest, take a break on one of the magnificent beaches!
     
    Warning: It is strictly forbidden to walk on the railway and in tunnels. A short cut on the railway is life threatening.

    From Sainte-croix to Martigues, from the miniature Calanque de Fernandel beach to Cap Rousset (Carry-le-Rouet). There are loads to choose from!

    Towns and villages - it’s holiday time!

    Explore exotic destinations with unique charm and character by train!

    L'Estaque. Don’t miss it, with a view over the nearby port of Marseille and the Chemin des Peintres. And don’t forget to taste the famous panisse - a speciality made with chickpeas - in the port!

    Niolon. Just below the station lies a small port where a viaduct straddles the turquoise water and rocks.

    Ensuès-la-Redonne. Hop off the train for a fabulous view of typical cabins and rocky inlets.     Carry-le-Rouet. The beach is just a few minutes walk downhill through the pines from the station. Take a seat at one of the restaurants. Cruises and boat trips around the inlets leave from the port.
     
    Sausset-les-Pins. Stroll along the promenade and in the port.

    La Couronne. Take the path from the station to discover a beautiful deep beach. This is the village where the French series "Camping Paradis" is filmed.

    Martigues. Explore the island and the canals. A busy programme of events: sardine festivals, Fête de la Mer, the Festival de Martigues*

    Port-de-Bouc. Fort Vauban, museum of the sculptor Moralès. The town centre is walking distance from the station.
