Presentation
Live a unique experience in the heart of the Croix d'Estrine farm. Spend the day with a cheese goat breeder to talk about his job and his passion for goats and kids.
Bernard welcomes you to his farm for a day of immersion by his side. The goat breeder will be delighted to introduce you to his herd of goats and kids whose newborns are only a few months old.
Follow your guide for a privileged tour of the farmhouse, you will thus discover the manufacturing workshop, the nursery, the landscaped garden and the porter before joining the place of milking. You will attend the first of the day, the start of a crazy day in the middle of goats and goats.
The highlight of this day will be the walk in the surrounding hills. Travel nearly 3km to reach the plateau of La Gatasse through wild nature. Walk to the jerky rhythm of the herd and climb the hill to the ringing of the bells and bleatings that animate this pretty little troop. The children will not resist the urge to help Bernard and the shepherd supervise the flock. The young goats, as playful as they are curious, will try to escape the supervision of their mothers.
Follows a well-deserved lunch on the heights of Martigues (or back to the farm depending on the weather conditions) during a totally farmer picnic. Savor the fruits and vegetables from the vegetable garden, spread rillettes on baked bread from a local farmer, taste the jam from the workshop, and of course one of the dairy products from the farm. A taste discovery that will make this day even more incredible!
This will be an opportunity to discuss with Bernard about his way of working. He will share with you his memories of yesteryear, he will tell you about the traditions that endure, the cultural and gastronomic heritage of our territory... If you do not know the story of the farmer who walked the streets of Marseilles with a basket under arm and yelling "The bush of Roooove, how good is my bush of Rove!" ... Then this day is made for you.
On site, you can buy various products: goat cheese, plain, chocolate or fruit yoghurts, egg creams, bottles of milk (from Rove), terrines, jams...and of course the Brousse du Rove AOP, this fresh cheese made from whole raw milk and with a slightly tangy taste that you buy in a tube and unmold on your plate to eat it with a fork.
In partnership with Bernard Thoron, goat breeder at the Fermette de la Croix d'Estrine in Saint-Julien-les-Martigues.

Bernard's recommendations: Be in good physical shape for this outing because the terrain is rocky with a significant drop. The ascent and descent in the hill is a bit sporty!
