Editions de l'hippocampe - Calanques Book
22.00 €
"Calanques..." is a bit like the story of each Marseille family: Sunday at the cabin, where we took a well-deserved nap at the foot of a pine tree... preceded by a tasty Bouillabaisse that we shared with friends.
From the beginning of the 20th century to the 60s, we rediscover the evolution of the Côte Bleue, through a saga of "Pagnolesque" characters.
The Planier lighthouse is to Marseille what the Statue of Liberty is to New York, a timeless landmark symbolizing the entrance to the harbor. At the time, when populations migrated across the Atlantic, others landed on the quays of the Old Port, in search of a better life. Through the life of Anton, a young shipwrecked carpenter against the reefs of Planier, the reader follows over the decades the story that was that of many families here. His love for Dine is mixed with the friendship that he will keep all his life for Olive and it is with them that he will tirelessly search for this supposed treasure of the coves that no one has ever been able to uncover. From this story with the scent of Provence is reborn the evolution of the Côte Bleue, so peaceful and sulfurous at the same time.
To read... with the Provençal accent, to the rhythm of the song of the cicadas!
