Why is this activity not accessible to everyone?
1. Complex boarding: Access to the boat is via a narrow gangway that can be unstable depending on the tide and choppy seas. This makes wheelchair access impossible.
2. Vessel configuration: Pleasure boats have high door sills for watertightness and narrow passageways.
3. Instability related to navigation: Rolling and pitching require good balance and the ability to hold onto the handrails to move safely during the crossing.
4. Evacuation and safety: Emergency procedures at sea require mobility that some people with severe motor disabilities cannot achieve.
Tip from the crew: If you have reduced mobility but can walk a few steps, some boats accept folding manual wheelchairs stored on the dock or at the entrance to the deck. We strongly advise you to contact the Martigues Tourist Office before making your reservation.
