Presentation

On the territory of the Municipality of Martigues, the Fort de Bouc rises its walls of pink limestone at the mouth of the Caronte channel.
Since the Middle Ages, it has kept this passage between the Gulf of Fos and the Etang de Berre, halfway between Marseille and the Rhône.
Through its strategic position for maritime trade and control of the region, the Fort de Bouc has always had a dual function, both a defensive structure and a beacon.
It has been listed as a historic monument since January 6, 1930.

Ticketing from May 25, 2020:
- At the Martigues Tourist Office and at the Tourist Information Office in La Couronne.
- Also available online at www.martigues-tourisme.com
- Access by sea. Visit from 10 years exclusively.
Duration: 2h30. Departure from the quai d'honneur of the town hall.

In 1993, the City of Martigues undertook to save and rehabilitate Fort de Bouc. After restoration work and for the first time in its millennial history, in 2007 the Fort de Bouc opened to the public, offering visitors a real journey back in time.
Fort Bouc is geographically landlocked in the facilities of the oil port of Lavéra.
Therefore, its attendance and use are subject to various specific constraints.
