The Sleeping Beauty

Cultural Dance Modern/contemporary art
Place : Théâtre des Salins
  • La belle au bois dormant

Created on January 15, 1890 on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg, this ballet is one of the most famous in the romantic repertoire.
It's an event! The Yacobson Ballet, Russia's first independent ballet company, will perform Sleeping Beauty, an emblematic work created in 1890 by two great artists of the time: Marius Petipa and Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky.

For this revisited version, the Yacobson Ballet called on the French choreographer Jean-Guillaume Bart, former principal dancer and teacher at the Opéra National de Paris. Unlike the original version, which was based on the technical prowess of the artists, it offers us here a story in which the fifty dancers bring this monumental work to life through their remarkable narrative interpretation.

And we rediscover, with happiness, the aestheticism of classical ballets with magnificent costumes, painted canvas decorations ... magic!
