Presentation

Eminent choreographer of the South African scene, Dada Masilo likes to play with the different styles, rhythms and techniques that she draws from classical and contemporary while diverting them in her own way with traditional African dances.
Dada Masilo is renowned for its original creations inspired by the greatest classical ballets. After Swan Lake, Giselle and Romeo and Juliet, she sees The Rite of Spring as an echo of the Tswana tribe from which she originates. This creation is a study of rhythm and a reflection on the meaning of the word sacrifice for the Tswana people, highlighted by a minimalist but no less powerful scenography. Much more than the simple story of a young woman dancing to death, Le Sacrifice is an ode to African traditions that Dada Masilo presents at Les Salins as part of her international tour.
