The Dragon

Cultural Theater Historic
Place : Théâtre des Salins

Thomas Jolly directs The Dragon, a satirical fable by Yevgeny Schwartz written in 1943 and denouncing Nazism and Stalinism. He delivers us a fantastic story with multiple resonances, in a spectacular scenography and distribution.
For four centuries, a three-headed dragon has reigned as a despot over an imaginary city. Obediently, the inhabitants agree to sacrifice several head of cattle to him per day and a virgin each year.
This year, the choice of the dragon fell on Elsa, daughter of archivist Charlemagne. She is about to be thrown away when the professional hero Lancelot arrives, who decides to challenge the dragon to a duel to free the city from the tyrant and save young Elsa.
