- Tuesday 7 February at 4.30pm: "L'Annonciation" by Jean Gody.
At the Chapelle de l'Annonciade (Jonquières).
Jean Gody, a key figure in religious painting in Martigues, is said to have
in 1679 for the high altar of the chapel of the Annonciade. This work, which is now at the centre of the altarpiece, illustrates an iconographic theme of predilection in Martigues at this period: the Annunciation.
- Tuesday 7 March at 4.30pm: Michel Serre "Saint Honoré, Saint Antoine, Saint Michel".
At the church of Sainte Marie-Madeleine de L'Île.
In the 17th century, the bakers' guild of L'Île commissioned Michel Serre, a baroque painter of national renown, to paint a picture in honour of its patron saint, Saint Honoré. The result is one of the most beautiful works of this period in Martigues.
- Tuesday 4 April at 4.30 pm: Michel Daret "La Vierge implorant le Christ pour les âmes du purgatoire".
At the Saint-Louis d'Anjou church in Ferrières.
Initially painted for the church of L'Île, this painting was given a second life at
Saint-Louis d'Anjou after its restoration.
Now attributed to Michel Daret, son of the famous baroque artist Jean Daret,
it represents a recurring theme of the period, the souls in purgatory.
