Presentation

Lecture by Pierre Fabre, former Capoulié of the Félibrige, based on his book ‘Dans l'intimité de Frédéric Mistral’.
What do we know about the circumstances in which Frédéric Mistral met the woman who was to become his wife and, above all, what do we know about Frédéric and Marie Mistral in the day-to-day life of their couple? These are just some of the questions that Pierre Fabre, Capoulié of the Félibrige from 1992 to 2006, will attempt to answer in this highly original conference, inviting us to enter into the intimacy of the greatest Provençal poet thanks to a correspondence of nearly 450 letters that he has collected, presented, translated and commented on, correspondence that it was impossible to keep unpublished for much longer, finally revealed to the public for the first time in a book recently published by Editions des Offray. Many extracts from these letters will be read by Marie-Sophie and Simon Calamel, Majoral of the Félibrige.
