Referred to as the “cathedral” by the local population for a long time, the city’s most imposing church with Provençal Baroque architecture and decorations with Italian influences was listed as a historical monument in 1947.
Built between 1670 and 1680, it is a reminder of the city’s prosperity in the 17th century and how the residents of the Ile district contributed to funding its construction.
The façade is separated in two sections by a volumetric cornice supported by modillions. The lower section is decorated with four columns topped with Corinthian capitals, fluted columns and a broken pediment. The upper section is topped with a triangular pediment.

Take time to observe the Virgin and Child, listed as a historical monument in 1908, and the beautifully sculpted portal. The richly painted interior is home to an organ manufactured by Montpellier manufacturer Moitessier (1851), paintings in the chapels by Michel Serre (1694) and a walnut pulpit (1677).
A 15-year restoration campaign won the Ruban du Patrimoine prize in 2000.
