The Ciergerie de l'Abbaye des Prémontrés has been awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label. It perpetuates the ancestral know-how of the Prémontrés White Fathers of the Saint Michel Abbey in Frigolet, Provence. The Living Heritage Company label is a mark of recognition from the French government awarded to manufacturers with excellent craft and industrial know-how.
It is here in Tarascon, at the foot of the Alpilles mountains, that the master candle makers draw new creative forces from the know-how accumulated over the years so that the history of the White Fathers is perpetuated. They elaborate candles of all sizes according to two manufacturing techniques dating from the 15th century: "à la louche" and "à la plongée".
