Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Montpellier, Alain Lambilliotte has been developing a strong and singular work since the 1970s. From the first drawings to his latest creations, in which the artist returns to traditional media, he never stopped questioning the act of painting and creating.

Mixing techniques and materials, fantasy and great rigor, his work transcends all classification and often preceded the questions of his fellows. In love with freedom, he will not follow any current and will not join any group, far too much in love with his independence.

Present in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris and the Centre Pompidou - National Museum of Modern Art since the 1980s, it will be exhibited many times in France and Germany but, refusing all worldliness, will always favour the tranquility of his studio in which he never ceases to question and question the creative act.

The first retrospective to be dedicated to him, the exhibition of the Ziem Museum will address, with more than seventy works, all the stages of the work and reflections carried out by the artist and will highlight the importance and relevance of his production, sometimes full of humour, which reflects above all the pleasure of creating. The city of Arles, a partner in this exhibition, will also present works by Alain Lambilliotte at the Archdiocese's Palace and the Alyscamps from October 19 to February 2.
